Bringing, Renting, Buying, or Shipping A Stroller to Disney World

For many families a stroller is a must have for their Disney vacation. Did you know that the average person visiting Disney World will walk 10 miles A DAY! I don’t know about you but my little guys (although they can run circles around me on a normal day) are not able to walk that much. Another good reason for strollers is to be able to get through the parks at an ADULT pace. Little legs just can’t keep up at the speed needed to see everything in a day.

So today’s post is explaining the different options of bringing, buying, renting, or shipping a stroller during your vacation. But first a little overview and some tips and tricks for strollers at Disney World.

Tips and Tricks

  • Just because you think your child is too old for a stroller, think again. Most kids aren’t used to the walking that Disney demands (plus the heat and humidity). Your kiddos (and your nerves) will thank you if you don’t have to hear the whining 😉
  • Remember that strollers are not allowed in lines for rides and attractions. You will need to use the “stroller parking lots” located outside of each attraction. If you leave your stroller somewhere other than the designated areas then prepare for it to be moved. Find a cast member to point you to the most likely spot that your stroller could be located.
  • Rain happens alot in Orlando. Remember to bring a towel to dry off your stroller or even buy a spare rain poncho (Dollar Tree purchase) to lay over your stroller while you are on a ride.
  • Strollers can be rolled onto the monorail and transportation boats but make sure you lock the wheels securely in place. But, on the boats you will be asked to take your child out of the stroller for safety reasons. For all other Disney transportation like the buses and the Magic Kingdom WDW Railroad, your strollers will need to be folded down to make room for other passengers. **Personal note** This is where umbrella strollers rule the day. Folding those big hulking strollers and lugging them up and down the bus stairs can be a pain in your back.
  • For strollers rented at Magic Kingdom, when you ride on the WDW Railroad you are not able to bring your stroller onto the train since these strollers do not fold down. You will need to remove all of your belongings, ride the train, and then find a new stroller when you disembark.
  • Customize your stroller! Especially if you are renting a Disney stroller as these begin to blur together. Tie a scarf or balloon onto the handle to make sure you can pick yours out as easily as possible.

Bringing Your Own From Home

  • Cost – No additional cost. Airlines don’t charge for checking strollers.
  • Pros –  You will be able to have a stroller with you at all times, even when moving through the airport. Just roll it up to the plane and get a claim check. Also, it’s nice to have the familiar with you.
  • Cons – Bringing strollers from home can be a hassle as it’s one more thing to juggle when moving through the airport while pushing luggage.

Renting A Stroller

  • From Disney
    • Cost – Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom
      • single stroller $15 per day OR $13 per day if you pre-pay for your entire stay
      • double stroller $31 per day OR $27 per day if you pre-pay for your entire stay
      • no deposit needed
    • Cost  – Downtown Disney
      • single stroller $15 per day OR $13 per day if you pre-pay for your entire stay
      • no double strollers available at Downtown Disney
      • requires a $100 credit card deposit
    • Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon
      • No stroller rentals available
      • BUT you can bring your own into the water parks
    • PROS
      • Recommended for children 50lbs or less.
      • The double stroller can hold up to 100lbs. So strong enough for one bigger kiddo 😉
    • CONS
      • Disney strollers a hard plastic and not very comfortable. Bring towels to soften the ride.
      • There isn’t any storage compartments like on normal strollers.
      • Can’t take the stroller outside of the park. So kiddos will need to make the trek out to the buses or your car on foot.
      • It’s a larger stroller so it’s not meant for small babies. (see image of stroller below)
    • Disney Stroller Details
      • Disney Stroller Rental Locations
        • Magic Kingdom – under the Main Street Railroad Station
        • EPCOT – to the right at main park entrance. Also at International Gateway, to the left before entering park.
        • Hollywood Studios – to the right after entering park, at Oscar’s Super Service, located just inside the Studios gates (in what looks like a “gas station”).
        • Animal Kingdom – to the right, after entering the park.
        • Downtown Disney – (West Side) DisneyQuest Emporium and (Marketplace) at Disney’s Wonderful World of Memories
      • Alot of parents rent a double stroller even if they have only one kid just to have the extra storage space for towels, drinks, purchases, etc.
      • With multi-day rentals you can breeze past the rental line (after your first visit) and go straight to the stroller-handout area and show them your receipt and grab a stroller
      • If you rent a stroller at one park and decide to hop to another park later that day then just turn in your original stroller at the first park and show your receipt at the second park to pick up your stroller at no additional charge. Strollers can not be removed from their original park.
      • You can skip the line to reserve a stroller at the park by renting it ahead of time at the gift shop of your Disney owned and operated resort. Just show your receipt at the stroller-handout area and off you go!
      • You can leave your stroller anywhere in the park when you are ready to go. No official returning of the stroller is needed (but Disney appreciates it).
      • If you lose your stroller, no worries, just show your receipt and grab a new one! Here are some stroller pickup stations inside the park so you don’t have to trek it back to the entrance of the park.
        • Magic Kingdom: — Main Street, U.S.A. at Strollers/Wheelchairs — Frontierland at Trading Post — Tomorrowland at Tomorrowland Arcade
        • EPCOT: — Germany (Glas und Porzellan)
        • Disney’s Hollywood Studios: — Tatooine Traders
        • Animal Kingdom: — Mombasa Marketplace

  • From A Third Party Company
    • PROS

Buying A Stroller When You Get There

  • COST
    • Prices vary when grabbing a stroller from the local Walmart or Target. Disney World gift shops also offers an umbrella stroller for around $60 that has a cup holder and can recline.
  • PROS
    • This can be a cheaper option than renting a stroller if you are staying for a longer trip.
    • Some people will buy an umbrella stroller when they get there and then when there vacation is over they “gift” it to another family when heading home.
  • CONS
    • This can be a costlier option than just bringing a stroller from home

Shipping A Stroller

Another version of the buying a stroller option is to buy one online and have it shipped to your hotel. Amazon will give you free shipping if you have Amazon Prime or if your order is over $25. I would recommend making sure it will be delivered at least 2 days before your arrival. Please note that if your Disney resort is considered a convention hotel (Coronado Springs, Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Beach Club, Yacht Club and Boardwalk) then they might charge you a fee for the package to be delivered. I have the address format below for where to send packages…

Hold for guest: (write the full name under which you made the reservation)

c/o (Your Disney World Hotel’s) front desk

Check in date: (date)
